October 22nd 2014 By Paul Hinkle British Car Roundup
A rain shower moved through the valley early Sunday morning leaving the air clean and the skies blue. Below on the streets of Old Town Clovis Jaguars, Austin Healeys, MGs, Mini Coopers, and Triumphs from all over the state were on display. The British Car Roundup is held in conjunction with the Old Town Clovis Antique fair, which draws big crowds. This meant that for some seeing these small stylish and uniquely colored cars was a first. I heard a lot of “what kind of car is this” and “what kind of gas mileage do you get”. Those that knew the pedigree were treated to beautiful examples of British cars with low import numbers and few survivors. The small sports cars ranged in condition from numbers matching to hot rodded to weathered. Despite the condition every car shown was driven on a regular basis and enjoyed by their owners. A couple of New Jaguars XFs and Minis where parked along side the classics offering contrast between the new and old. All the awards at this show were voted for by the public walking the show. A full list of winners can be found at Valleybritish.org and pictures can be viewed at Clovisparkinthepark.com.
