Clovis Park in the Park

 Summer is over and fall is fast approaching bringing a close to the hot 
rod season. The last Clovis Park in the Park event for 2014 was held on 
Saturday, September 20th
this last gathering of car enthusiasts. Hot rods, muscle cars, sports cars and 
VW’s filled the park by 5:30 in the afternoon. Cap’s Bright Hot Coatings 
sponsored the event; Clovis and Fresno Goodguys Tire & Auto Repair along 
with OpenMortgage sponsored the food for the BBQ that is provided to 
participants. Our thanks go out to volunteer chefs Don Wagner and Rick 
Lingenfelter who flipped hamburgers and grilled hot dogs. Also, thank you 
to all the volunteers that helped set up and serve. The BBQ is successful not 
only because of the volunteers but also because of the participants that get 
involved by bringing out their favorite potluck dishes and deserts to share 
with others. 
 It was great to see so many new rodders at this last event of the summer. 
The San Joaquin Mopar’s, Central Valley Mustangs, Mustang’s of the San 
Joaquin and the VW Club have been great supporters of this event and have 
been there for each gathering. Before and after the BBQ many car owners 
spent time walking thru the park talking and sharing hot rod stories. It is also 
nice to see many local residents stopping by to look at the cars parked in the 
park. Hope to see everyone again next year at our first event on May16th.
